I assume you are not running LPARs with a Tape drive
per partition as this should be possible then.

What I was asking about are 'parallel' saves, which I've found documented in the V4R4 manuals, but not with much detail. Scott's reply refers to BRMS's interface to this at V4R4, which allows creation of a 'media definiton' object which is needed, but we don't use BRMS. I did find in the Backup and Recovery API's Reference an API that will allow the creating of a 'Media Definition'. Under V4R4, this can then be referred to on the device parameter of a 'normal' save command (i.e. SAVLIB, SAVOBJ, SAVCHGOBJ).
