  • Subject: SOCKS support for Code/400

I have an AS400 behind a proxy server. Works great for telnet, ftp, etc.
Now I want to fire up a Code/400 session from the outside. The telnet
session coming in works fine, but the STRCODE command fails. The problem is
that the STRCODE command wants the IP address of the desired client. The
connection won't survive the trip out through the proxy.

A couple questions...

1. Anyone out there running CODE400 from the outside with a proxy server
standing guard?
2. Is CODE/400 SOCKS-enabled? If so, I could turn on SOCKS for code/400 and
it should survive the trip out through the proxy. I can't find any
reference to SOCKS in the CODE/400 docs or any reference to CODE/400 in the
socks docs.
3. It appears that CODE/400 is trying to use port 4200 (according to the
error message upon starting the STRCODE command). Anybody know if there are
other ports involved? If I know which ports are used, I could set up static
mappings in the proxy server.
4. Some proxy servers use NAT (network address translation) instead of the
older style proxy. Anybody using a NAT proxy for Code/400?
