Hi Larry. I have the 2 594e perles both with 5twinax cards and 1 ethernet card. 
Both
these units plug into an ethernet hub. My As400's both plug into a black box
switching unit then into my ethernet hubs. All my Client Access users, 20 
users, also
plug into the same hubs. Both applications share the same ethernet resource on 
the
400. When the controllers go down the ethernet line remains active and there 
isn't a
problem with tcp. My client access user are not effected.
