Delphi is also Object Oriented, although it doesn't really compile to true objects. VC++ is object oriented. I program in both of these, as well as VB. It is not the objects that is the problem. You are not the only one to suggest that I am having problems with objects whenever I mention I am having trouble with object oriented languages (usually Java). That is just not the case. The fact is, though, that I come from the PC world, not the main- frame world. I didn't get into RPG until maybe 4 or 5 years ago. Before that I was programming in FORTRAN, COBOL, Basic (many versions, Quick Basic, QBasic, Visual Basic, Wang Basic, etc..), APL, Pascal (Borland Pascal, Delphi), C (again, many versions), Assembly (80x86), and many, many more. It was actually a paradigm shift for me to learn RPG since most of the code is written in RPG II. (Where the heck am I inputting this record, where is the read statement? Where is my write statement? Oh no, this looks like COBOL! Arg). Regards, Jim Langston Bob Crothers wrote: > Jim, > > Re J++ and after a week you having little success: > > I am not surprised at this.
