The only problem with these ideas is that sure, it will work great on a 1-1
relationship.  Most anything does.  (even windows... kinda).

but, when you get 100 different vendors sending you a different document for
the same thing (ie invoices, shipping acknowledgements), it still stinks.
And the format doesn't matter.  X.12 has a standards committe too, but that
doesn't mean people follow it.  We have a few companies that we have to send
and receive differently formatted x.12 docs for different "projects" from
different "deparments" on their end as an example.  Will XML solve this
problem?  No way.

Too many things that sound great in theory are being pushed as the save all
end all solutions.  They're not.  

Soon, many will be waking up and saying "Is that coffee I smell?"  Or to
keep on the Emril motif, it may be "essence".  :)
