You really don't need to know anything about this area to use the system.  There
is nothing useful you can do with the knowledge unless you're a hacker and even
then .... I don't know why you are asking the question - if you really want an
appropriate answer such information is essential. If you really want to know how
the system is structures, then get hold of a copy of Frank Solitis' book "Inside
the AS/400" since he was the original architect of the system he should know
what is going on.  I believe that Duke had an extract from the book on their web
pages at one time.  Try the 29th Street press web site (www.29thstreetpress.com)
and you should be able to find it.  There were also a couple of "free" books
from IBM on the AS/400 technology one came out with the system, the update (I
think) with the Risc boxes.  Don't know if they are still obtainable.
