Ya know Al, sometimes one has to wonder just what toadheads were and still
are in some cases designing this stuff. Definately NOT people that have
to use them in a day to day scenerio...

To wit: Remember when the 400's came out and for several iterations of
the early models, they were HAPPY to sell you gillions of gigs of DASD,
but you were stuck with this stupid 1/4 DC600 type media for backup that
was the slowest thing since submitting a invoice to Endicott! It would
take all weekend and 80 tapes to backup a system!

Fortunately, things have come along way from then, but I recall when we
screamed at people at the 2.2/2.3 and 3.1/2 announcements about
backup/restore and were just met with stupid stares...and the ubiquitious
"I understand....but you're screwed...buy a bigger box....".

Also, I recall back when we were told that "System C" is the best language
out there...EVERYONE's writing in it and you can port code in from all
over...It's going to replace RPG very shortly....:) ...kinda like what I
read all the time about that coffee grind stuff...uh, I think it's call
july, jani, joni.....OH! java! .....:)

:) Ah the old days....kids today have it tooo good...:)
