I shouldn't have used the word "stigma".  However I have yet to be in a 
shop that allows programmers to decide to create a logical file.  In every 
instance it is decided after discussion, and it decided by bosses.

My only reason for suggesting the RPG solution originally is because it is 
so easy and  so efficient.

I did mean using SELECT in the DDS.  As far as a stigma, it really depends
on who you speak with.  I think if done correctly, doing this type of
selection at the micro code level (in DB2) is more efficient.  Also, this

I am thinking of will be used in multiple programs so it is not a single
purpose need.
