where i'm confused is:  

our printer is a hp5 attached thru a workstation, using host print
transform.

the client has an older ibm laser printer, configured as ipds. i was
going to try changing the configuration to make it afp capable, but the
on line printer manual seems to imply that if you're doing that, you
need to have pfs installed, and they don't.  when i searched for pfs, i
got a list of afp and apu items, but couldn't figure out which one
equated to pfs.  just color me dense..
