        Although I doubt that David is considering requesting funds by selling
advertising, I feel that sponsorship may be helpful to the list.  David
would be able to purchase hardware, software and a needed web page designer
(just kidding about the web designer part David).  Please don't
misunderstand me.  Advertising should be sold on the web page and not on the
mailing list.  As for IBM or any other advertiser attempting to influence
the direction of the list or "junking it up" - I doubt it would occur given
the scenario I have suggested.  The crux is whether the owner is reliant
upon the funds of the advertiser which David is not.  It is easy for the
subscribers of the list to vent and say no to advertising, but then again,
they are not paying bills on a monthly basis to keep the mailing list(s) up!

Just my 2 cents.
