  I don't disagree with any of this except the 'No Upgrade' part.  When you left
the 9404-F series you could choose to 'upgrade' to a 200 or a 300. In IBM's
records these 'forklift upgrades' kept the serial number and model number of the
predecessor white box, hence they remained 9404's.

  And IBM saw that confusion reigned upon the customer community and smiled upon
it, because it was profitable.
