Aside from overall "Work Management" issues, since you mention RPG36,
check the IBM Redbooks site for GG24-3250-xx "System/36 to AS/400
Application Migration" on some tips and GG24-3304-xx "Converting
System/36 Environment Applications to Native AS/400" which includes a
chapter called "Restructuring for Better Performance" and have RPG,Cobol
and OCL examples.
