In order to do what you want, you will need read up on DDS for physical
files.
It's not very hard to create a basic file with as many fields as you
wish.

I take it you are NOT a programmer, but still with a little reading and 
using DFU as your file editor, you could accomplish what you are trying
to do.

Here are the very basic steps:

crtsrcpf  Yourfile
strseu    (create a source member in Yourfile)
CRTPF     (uses the member created in step 2 as the source)
STRDFU    (use to create/update records in the file)

This will require a little reading on your part but if you get stuck
send a note and somebody will guide you along....
