There are many methods of creating PF files. One is to use CRTPF. This method has two sub alternatives. With or without DDS. Try using the command DSPFFD against the file. If you see more than one field than the CRTPF command without DDS method was not used. If you do see fields than either SQL was used to create the file, or, the CRTPF command with DDS method was used. Use the command DSPOBJD OBJ(lib/file) OBJTYPE(*FILE) DETAIL(*SERVICE). If you see an entry under source file, usually lib/QDDSSRC, then the CRTPF with DDS method was used. Dig out your DDS manual, also available at IBM's web site. And start larnin' fella. Backup the file before using the command CRTPF. I already have a file called RATE PF-DTA on my system which has some of the data I would like to use but need to pass a couple of more parameters than what is in RATE PF-DTA. I tried to edit this file but it seems that when I add lines, it places them as another record to that file. This won't work so I through I'd create another PF-DTA file. The manual said to use WRKF and press F6 to create. WRKF does not have a F6 key, is it because I'm on V3R7? Next I tried CRTSRCPF but that creates a PF-SRC file. What is the method for creating PF-DTA files?
