I am a Harbinger BP and am quite pissed about this whole matter. Many of
customers don't really have the need to move to the new V3, however will be
forced to due to the eventual lack of maint on the old V2 product. Pretty
poor in my opinion. IMHO, Harbinger has done nothing to enhance the old
Premenos software or corp. This is a page taken strictly out of the
Sterling Software marketing manual. Obsolete a product and "suggest" to the
customer that they upgrade to a newer and better product. I hope there is
much resistance to this by Harbingers current customer base. The software
is not cheap, the maint is fairly high and to obsolete a product, especially
for a customer who is doing very little changes to their EDI, is going to
force some customers to look at other products. I have also heard that not
all map will convert to the new version of the product.... I have heard only
90% of maps will convert. What if you have hundred of partners doing
several documents. This will not be a trivial task. I hope someone from
Harbinger monitors this list..... I'll probably be asked to turn in my BP
certificate!
