  • Subject: RE: Harbinger Trusted Link - GUI only?

Hi Brad,

We use Trusted Link/400 also but we still use version 11. However,
Harbinger has been sending out "glossies" introducing their version 3.2.
According to the one I am looking at, it says that 3.2 features a
"browser-based GUI with drag-and-drop visual mapping". My impression is
that Harbinger is working toward combining their product sets (the AS/400
Premenos product which they now own with their other Harbinger product
line). Since we don't use the client/server environment I am resisting.
Also, once again they are expecting us to pay for this release.

Hope this helps.

We just were working with Trusted Link/400 version 3.2 (the newest version).
We had someone in from another company that is on a previous version (11 I
think, don't ask me why it's 11).

When we got to the part for Translation Format Maintenence, we got a message
on our terminal that says to use the Client Interface. There was a PC
version sent to us that basically uses Seagull screen scrapers. Anyhow, we
shrugged it off and started using the PC interface. We when got to the
menu, ODBC error. Great. We got some PTF numbers that hopefully will fix
that.

But, in the meantime, has anyone upgraded to this version? If not, are you
aware that this option will no longer be available on the AS/400 menu? We
spoke with two tech supports who said this is correct... only the GUI
interface can be used to set up translations.

Also, this is kind of a warning for folks that planned on upgrading. The
guy that was showing us how it worked said "Whew! I was going to upgrade
last night! I'm sure glad I didn't!" He didn't even know this existed in
the upgrade.

Any thoughts? Terrible marketing ploy in my opinion.
