M Hello Tim, You can't use QCMDEXC to invoke any of the RTVxxx commands. The reason is those commands have parameters defined with RTNVAR(*YES) and require a memory location (variable) in which to store the value returned. QCMDEXC accepts a command STRING (a text literal that is interpreted as a command) and it is not possible to provide the address of a variable inside a string in another variable. Mello, They may have an API for that, I would look into the API Programmers reference manual (or) look into the Program Status Data Structure, or maybe use the RPG callable IBM supplied QCMDEXC that you pass an AS400 command to. :-) Tim & Dana Truax ... and Caleb :-) http://members.xoom.com/truax ----- Original Message ----- From: Joe Teff To: Midrange Dot Com Sent: Tuesday, July 27, 1999 9:48 AM Subject: Batch/Interactive flag In CL I can retreive the job type using the TYPE paramater on the RTVJOBA command. Is there a way of doing this in RPG? I do not see anything in the system data structure. Is calling a CL to do this the easiest way?
