SOCKETS are a point to point communication protocol for TCP/IP. There has
been much discussion on the RPG400-L about this subject over the last few
weeks. It is fast, very fast. There are a couple/three packages that make
it easier to implement from $3500 - $7995 per AS400 CPU. NEWS/400 June 1999
has an article and downloadable code. Check it out at
HTTP://www.new400.com.
ROI has a Socket Product, HTTP://www.roiconnect.com. Magellan Software is
another, HTTP://www.magsoft.com. The big question is WHO or HOW are you
going to send the transactions from your NT, (not there)<BG>, server? Yes
Microsoft includes the socket function with NT as well as 95/98.
