Is your telnet server running? WRKTCPSTS *CNN and look for telnet/port23
listing.
If it is not running, STRTCPSRV *TELNET. This should start the server for
you. Look in subsystem qsyswrk for the following: QTGTELNETS

     QSYSWRK QSYS SBS .0 DEQW
       QTGTELNETS QTCP BCH .0 DEQW
       QTGTELNETS QTCP BCH .3 DEQW
       QTGTELNETS QTCP BCH .0 DEQW

This is the telnet server. If all that is up and running and you still
can't get a telnet session look for controller QPACTL01 varied on and
active. This runs the devices QPADEV*. Do you have them configured or
autoconfigure turned on? There are lots of little pieces to get telnet up
and running. Mocha works. I use it.

Subject: Help with TCP-IP for V4r3

Hi:

We have a 600 box with V4R3 and a small lan.

I can ping the lan from the as400 and can ping the as400 from the lan.

I am unable to telnet--i tried mochasoft's client on port 23 where the as400
indicates its listening.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Bob
