> There is also something to be said from buying an integrated solution from > one vendor (IBM). When it breaks, you point at the IBM CE and say "fix > it". There's no figure pointing. Case in point: In a recent RISC to RISC upgrade we lost an entire drawer of EMC stuff. (Continual subsystem restarts) EMC maintenance said 'it's the 6501, call IBM', IBM said 'whaddaya nuts? It's the drives!' EMC then said, 'Oops, sorry, those drives need microcode update to run on RISC.' (Been on a 500 since '97) 'Sorry guys been on RISC for well over a year.' EMC: '500 isn't really RISC, ya still gotta upgrade them. We'll send parts' (Via Courier, that they wanted US to put in!) Turns out they sent the wrong parts. Customer ordered 6 more 6807's.
