My parent company is considering purchasing EMC drives for their new 7XX
>AS/400.

We have been using EMC drives for about 5 years now. An fully configured
Harmonix subsystem on our F45, and we moved to Symmetrix when we upgraded
to a RISC box. The support in South Africa for EMC is brilliant. We have
had absolutely no problems with either EMC or their product. When we moved
to the new system EMC flew someone out from Europe, as we were the first
RISC box worldwide to use the new (then) Symmetrix (well, that particular
model). Currently our AS400 and our main NT server is connected to the
Symmetrix. We had a RS/6000 connected as well, at one stage. We do not use
SRDF, only RAID-S, EMC's proprietry implementation on RAID-5.
If you are going for non IBM kit, then EMC is probably your best bet.

Hope this helps you,
