Found it. It's a research note dated 10/29/98 (RN DF-06-1449).

The numbers are from Gartner Group in a document dated 10/98. It's a one page
deal....I forget what they call their little studies...I'm looking for my
hardcopy but can't find it....

I attended an IBM presentation which quoted a Gartner survey. Although I
do not remember the exact numbers, ere is my recollection. (Note these
numbers were read, not shown on foils.)

Number of customer surveyed: 250
Uptime requirements 24x7
AS/400 Unplaned Downtime 5 hours/year
NT Unplanned Downtime 220 hours/year (approximately 10 days)

As I said, these numbers are based on recollection.
