How well does imbedded SQL work with device files?
But, I will admit that I have not tried it with database files. What
is the minimum release level needed? (I currently target V3R1). How
do I get started?

Well, yeah, IF you use the record IO stuff. But I use it without any
problems with imbedded SQL. Works just fine.
