Karl, Couple of points: 1.) Notes/Domino is not going to make a very good word processor. 2.) For a client to directly use Domino (email, calendar, applications, etc.) it is going to have to be a PC connected via TCP/IP. There is no emulation per se. 3.) You do not need CA/400 in order to use Domino. However, if you are connecting a PC to the AS/400 to use other applications than Domino you will want something like CA/400 (Rumba, etc.) 4.) There are a number of different ways to get data from DB@/400 files to Domino data base files. Notes/Pump is a very nice way to do it but you may find other ways more acceptable. BTW, someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think this currently chargeable feature ($8,000) is possible included with R5? Back to your question though, there are many different ways and the most optimal my be different for you and even different between different applications. The AS/400 site has a fair amount of information regarding Domino. You can start with http://www.as400.ibm.com/Lotus_Notes/notesmain.htm. A nice faq is located at: http://www.as400.ibm.com/Lotus_Notes/nnfaq1.htm I think somewhere in that mess is a nice summary of Domino DB2/400 integration. If you can't find it I have a hard copy I can snail mail you. We have all twinax attached green screens. Now we are charged with putting everyone on a network with email and we need a new word processor. Our choice: Domino with Lotus Notes. Our question: Is anyone running it native on AS400? How is it? How do you get the emulation? Do you need client access? How do you get data from as400 file into Notes documents (LEI,Notes pump)? If so do you need client access? If we do need client access why not express client? We have a notes/domino/network vendor who is recommending client access. All the books and stuff we read makes no mention of client access. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Karl Lauritzen Jr National Lloyds Ins Second Vice-President PO Box 2650 Project Development Waco TX 76702-2650 254-756-5531 x129 254-399-0561 Fax www.natlloyds.com klauritzen@mail2.texnet.net ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ -----Original Message----- From: Al Barsa, Jr. <barsa2@ibm.net> To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com <MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com> Date: Thursday, April 08, 1999 9:49 AM Subject: RE: DSKBAL on V4R3 >At 12:51 PM 4/7/99 -0500, you wrote: >>I don't know whether it still works but a simple way to do this is to >>RGZPFM.
