Client Access file Xfer from the AS400 -- MIDRANGE-L

Hey again, I know you guys like to hear from me because my questions
are easy to answer.  I hope this one is the same.
I need to xfer data from the AS400 into a vendor file.  The vendor PC  file
cannot be changed :), so I wondered if there was a way to get data in a
record who's fields are 5 digits long to xfer into a file who's fields are 6
digits long.
I know there is an FDF which is created during a download.  Maybe CA
is not the way to go.
