If your in search of a good product you may want to try PKZIP/400, My company uses this product to distribute Cumulataive PTF packages to more than 300 AS400's. I have not had any trouble with this product and its Y2K Compliant. Go to the following page to download the version and a copy of the manual.

When do you thing IBM will supply a native zip engine that will allow the ability to compress files on the IFS in zip format.  This is a needed component when trying to give file data to customers accessing information from the web server.  I cannot believe they have not ported this capability yet.  It would be nice to send report data from regular programs to the ifs and zip it with CL commands.
