I disagree with calling the programs from IBM commands directly.
It may cause a maintenance headache doing OS upgrades.  API programs are 
normally safe.

I agree that the ability to call the commands from within RPG would be a plus.  
Look at RTVJOBA.
Writing a CL wrapper for that would not be pretty.  Especially if you wanted 
only one or two parameters.
