I believe in RPG, you can trap for QCMDEXC errors using the error indicator.
In COBOL, there is usually a clause that can be used for errors, but it
escapes me.  I think it's "ON ERROR" or something to that effect.

But the problem with QCMDEXC, is that you cannot do a MONMSG on any
commands you run, so if an error occurs in the command, the calling HLL
program falls over. <clip>
