Ed,

You _can_ convert to ILE and take advantage of the inbuilt date handling,
but you don't necessarily _have_ to. IBM will have you believe that most
shops are now using ILE, but I don't believe it at all. Presumably by now
your system is thoroughly audited so you know what needs to be done. You
can survive the century change perfectly well with the OPM versions of the
languages as many others are planning to do. If not, J.D. Edwards, for one,
is in big trouble.
