>> Doesn't this exercise make you more appreciative of the brevity of RPG? I'm not sure it says anything much about the brevity of RPG - an I spec doesn't have that much less "stuff" in it. I also find the COBOL style "there are five digits before the decimal and two after it" a little easier to understand than the RPG style "There are a total of seven digits of which two are decimals". The RPG one requires me to use my brain to work out how many integer positions there are !!!
