Bernd,

  CPU Seconds is simply the accumulated time that the job has spent in an active
state in the CPU.  To put it another way, if the job was the ONLY one on the
system, it had been running for 10 seconds, and the cpu was running 100% during
the entire time, it would have accumulated 10 CPU seconds.  Of course rarely do
you get all 100% since the OS takes some as do many other tasks and other user
jobs. Also on Nway machines (more than one CPU) a single job can't get more than
100% of ONE CPU. (I believe this limitation is lifted with jobs that utilize
threads but threads are currently not available to the traditional languages
such as RPG and COBOL)  If memory serves correctly a job getting 100% of 1 out
of 4 CPUs would only accumulate .25 CPU seconds per clock second.
