Carl, I know one round way to do that. On defining the Result field. CHARD DIGITS(YYMMDD) - This will convert the field into Alphanumeric TYY SUBSTR(CHARD, 1, 2) TMM SUBSTR(CHARD, 3, 2) TDD SUBSTR(CHARD, 5, 2) RESULT TMM || TDD || TYY or TMM || '/' || TDD '/' || TYY - Raj "Carl Galgano" <cgalgano@ediconsulting.com> on 02-09-99 06:43:33 AM Please respond to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com To: "Midrange List" <MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com> cc: (bcc: Rajan Srinivasan/Servicing/SuperiorBank) Subject: Date conversion technique in QUERY anyone have a quick and dirty way to convert a date (6,0) in a YYMMDD format to a MMDDYY format for printing in a Query? I know I can multiply by 100.0001, however Query thinks it knows better and won't let you chop off the left most 2 significant digits, which makes this technique not work. (I get the dreaded +++++++++ as the output for this field). Surely someone has solved this little problem.
