Bob,

I have ADSM (with the AS400 as the server) for about 1 year now and think it is
one of the best products no one knows about BUT there is no substitute for
AS/400 save/restore. The ADSM pitch for the /400 even states it is not for
large volumes of data. Stick with the 3590 and you will remain happy and
recoverable...

My $.02
John

Speaking of BRMS, a client has ADMS running on AIX (RS/6000) It backs up their
RS/6000 and I believe some OS/2 servers. We are looking at the possibility of
doing the two S/20s thru this setup. Problems are:
A - AS/400 client to work wiith AIX is new and we have no feedback on how well
it
works.
B - I have been told that we will still require BRMS on the AS/400s at about
$10K
each.

The AIX machines have an 8mm silo. The AS/400s each have 3590 Adstar drives, but
they have been using them as a single cartridge drive.

Anyone have any experiences with this type of an environment. Possibly thoughts
in terms of Price performance of alternatives.
TIA
Bob Larkin
