Synapse has an SQL based file transfer product available (WinTran) that
runs over either native SNA or over native TCP/IP. WinTran is part of
their WinAPPC (SNA) and TCP/IP offerings. It supports many format types
compatible with Excel and/or Access including comma delimited, tab
delimited, text, BIFF (Excel), DIF, dBase, etc. I like dBase because the
data dictionary comes down with the data and so all of the columns in Excel
or Access have headings are are properly sized and typed. dBase is a
common denominator format compatible with most database/spreadsheet
systems. I don't pgm in dBase at all nor recommend it. You can click on
the library, file, member, fields, etc. and click SQL restricts, sorts,
etc. It is callable from VB and C++ with messaging as to transfer status.
A free, full running demo is at http://www.synapse.com.

Claimer: I sell, support, recommend, and use Synapse products.
