Pat,

I saw this YEARS ago on our S/34 or S/38 (forget which one now - see, I said
YEARS ago <BG>) and a 5250 terminal. It was sitting on TOP of the computer and
had fluorescent directly above it. The CE turned the lights off and all was fine
! Something to do with the refresh or cycle rate from the lights getting in 
synch
with the terminal... Have to admit that was the ONLY time I have ever seen this
unless a user had a fan near a monitor.

I would try calling IBM. We had some strange things going on with 3487's several
years ago and placed a service call (can't remember what it was now) and the
"display" folks called us back and had us enter some key sequences that actually
fixed the problems !
