David,

The new machine rumor that I've seen is a Java only machine with a
subset of the OS tuned to provide high performance for Java apps.

Subject: New AS/400 in 2000?

Folks:

I've heard a rumor that IBM will be comming out with a new AS/400 in
2000 that doesn't support RPG or PL/I. I don't really belive this...
but my boss asked me to follow up on it :)

I know that PL/I has been dropped as a licensed product ... but is it
concevable that RPG support would be removed?

Perhaps it's a "JAVA ONLY" machine?

Perhaps it's only OPM rpg that's not available? (I find this hard to
belive, but heck... it's a rumor)

Any insights would be appreciated!

david
