In the AS/400 Performance Capabilities Reference on page 237 (Chapter 14 'DASD Performance') it is stated 'At 40% - 50% utilization, the disk arms are at the "knee of the curve".' For their DASD performance charts they assume 40% utilization for comparison purposes. TBH - I never thought DASD "knee of the curve" was thought of in the 70% range. Interactive utilization - yes. BTW - thanks for all the input on CCSID. It was a great refresher and I learned something new as always.....
