What do you mean with "footer on a subfile"? 

If you are talking about simple text like command keys (in blue :))), then
it's easy. It's only a separate record in display file which you write
first, then overlay with subfile record (or you can choose to put it in
a separate display file, and then put "ASSUME" in dummy record in subfile
display file and write over previous file). 

If you are talking about some text AND COMMAND LINE, well it can be done,
but you will have to write (at least simple) request message porocessor
which will receive command strings from input line (which is part of your
display file) and and pass them to QCMD. Or you can simply call QUSCMDLN
and let it do the work for you.

All this assuming that I have a right understanding of term "footer on a
subfile".
