Dont worry, I do not consider difference of opinion as personal attack. One
thing i find interesting in your explanation is that, if i follow you, you dont
require graphics in a graphical user interface. In fact, the more or less
dynamic positioning/usage of buttons is enought to qualify as GUI. So, program
like deskview (of the dos days) would qualify as GUI even if it did not follow
the MS standard for mouse and keys.

Am i on the right track here?

Denis--

I disagree that GUI = Mouse.

You are indeed pointing and clicking with your finger at the ATM machine.
What interface does that ATM interface you describe emulate? The ATM's
dedicated function buttons (nothing labeled F3 that you need to know means
"checking") emulate a form. It matters not that the buttons are real buttons
or pretend buttons.

If the green screen were so darn effective, why doesn't the ATM have a green
screen menu with functions keys at the bottom saying F3=Checking
F4=Savings?

Again, I think you make my case for me.

PS: I'm not trying to belittle you, I do respect your thoughts. Don't read
a snotty tone into this. We just disagree. That's all.
