I don't know about the title change. For one thing, I was Vice President of one firm for five years. Just having that on a resume has scared away some opportunities. Of course, they may not have been opportuntites, really. Until recently the idea of a Project Manager at the company I work for was as a lead / only programmer. We've got a new head if IS, so I don't know if the definition's changed yet or not. For most projects, if it's of any size, -managing- the project is a full time job: coordinating various tasks, user testing, equipment deliveries, resolving disputes, resolving programming interface issues, scheduling user training, dictating Change Management procedures... *phew* There's more than enough work to keep a manager -managing- without adding programming, debugging, testing, and the like to the list. If a manager insists that a Project Manager is just a lead programmer, they are NOT thinking clearly about the entire project. Is there another position that handles the administration of the project? Maybe you need a change of title to go with your relocation. --Paul E Musselman PaulMmn@ix.netcom.com >> +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
