I agree 1,000%.  I was gone last week, and had well over 1000 messages
to sift through when I returned.  If I couldn't have done that offline
with near instant response time between messages, I'd still be trying
to catch up!

I have some sentiments about stuff like the CL Style Guide, but none
as strong as my dislike for web-based forums compared to a newsgroup
or mailing list.  It ranks right up there with my sentiments toward
using SEU compared to a real editor. <g>
