Takes about 30 minutes to get to the point in the process where you take the option to erase things. According to IBM it blows away the index to the disks. Although it doesn't erase everything, we've been told that once the install gets that far along, it's practically impossible to retrieve anything usable (ie based on where the raid stripes are and where the data chunks get stored); the install process creates a new index. It would take Rochester to put the pieces back together again, and take lots and lots of time. Unless you're the government and have spy-sensitive data, it's a 'good enough' solution. --Paul E Musselman PaulMmn@ix.netcom.com +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
