Running PC Anywhere on console PC will certainly do the trick. Also some time ago there was an IBM product (for OS/2) which provided remote DST and remote console support. For V4R3 remote console and remote operator panel are provided as a standard feature. You only have to buy two cables (one for console attachment and another for operator panel). Then you really will be able to do anything from home.
