I was looking at the following solution: We do something similar (2-1/2 users, 1 printer) for an office in Frankfurt with frame relay & cisco routers directly into our lan. I believe the line speed is certified at 32K. Until recently we were using an SAA server, but we finally got rid of it a month or so back and now are just using TCP/IP. It seems stable enough. I'm told that FR is the most economical way to do this, but this may only be because the CFO is a little paranoid about virtual private networking. For terminal sessions, the bandwidth requirement is fairly low, but we will need to install a replication server in Frankfurt when we get ready to roll out client-server. Ping returns about 130-150ms, compared to about 13 locally, so latency is a major factor for any chatty traffic. Configuration was really simple. Since we didn't purchase any additional hardware, I haven't a clue about the costs.
