I did a quickie test of this on my heavily loaded 620.  500 loops of 
%len(%trim(String)).  "String" contains the literal "Short string here". 
 If "String" is declared 20 bytes long, it takes :02.  If "String" is 
delcared 32000 bytes long, it takes 7:54.
