Scott, The idea is to cut the volume of messages sent by midrange-l out to the list subscribers. If you are depending on your e-mail filtering, its too late in that the listserv had to send it out. Agreed, e-mail would be a bear without filters..... As another alternative: use >the filtering available in most Email packages, particularly since >SPAM has become a major issue (no, that does NOT imply this list >qualifies as SPAM :)) I have a particular rule that I turn on while on >vacation. It scans the message text for the words "MAJORDOMO" or >"MIDRANGE-L," which appear in the trailer appended to every list >generated message. When the words are found, the message is >deleted without reading or replying (sorry, but wading through >250+ Emails upon return from vacation is not my idea of fun :)). This >rule is placed in front of the more typical "auto-respond while on >vacation" rule and volia - the list gets no auto generated traffic from >me (at least I don't think it does - I've never seen hundreds of replies >from me appear on the list, but maybe David intercepts them???) while >everybody else gets the "Sorry I'm not here" response. > >Just a thought > >Scott Cornell >Mercy Information Systems >+--- >| This is the Midrange System Mailing List! >| To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. >| To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. >| To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. >| Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com >+--- > +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
