Well, that's certainly one way to do it. As another alternative: use
the filtering available in most Email packages, particularly since
SPAM has become a major issue (no, that does NOT imply this list
qualifies as SPAM :)) I have a particular rule that I turn on while on
vacation. It scans the message text for the words "MAJORDOMO" or
"MIDRANGE-L," which appear in the trailer appended to every list
generated message. When the words are found, the message is
deleted without reading or replying (sorry, but wading through
250+ Emails upon return from vacation is not my idea of fun :)). This
rule is placed in front of the more typical "auto-respond while on
vacation" rule and volia - the list gets no auto generated traffic from
me (at least I don't think it does - I've never seen hundreds of replies
from me appear on the list, but maybe David intercepts them???) while
everybody else gets the "Sorry I'm not here" response.
