Check the documentation-- there are switch settings that may help.  There
is one that we've used that makes the front panel settings override
whatever the AS/400 sends.  I think, but am not sure, that there is one to
do the same for the CPI setting.

These are the DIP switches hidden inside where the cable connections
reside.  You'll need a flashlight.  (:
