There are many ways this can be done. I don't know if you'd want to "suspend" a job unless you have a separate batch subsystem with a job queue designated to this job only. What you may want to do is have the purge job monitor a data queue for a shut down flag/time. Once the program receives the shut down flag/status, output the current purge file & record to a file or data area. Then next time it's started, (either by job scheduler or nightly process) it only needs to retrieve it's starting position from the data area or file. HTH. Jon A.
