I used to have a purge job that needed to fit into a very short outage window. We would check to see a record on a control file to determine shut down time. Every CYCLE (eeeeks) the check took place. If after the allowed time, shut down. Next night pick up where it left off. Not pretty or elegant but it worked... John John W.
